The FFA year has started with a bang here at Freeman. We have 67 members this year, 42 high school members and 25 junior high members.
The officer team of Matt Nieveen, Kristen Andersen, Kyle Schlake, Ashley Ayres, Eric Rapp, and Natalie Lenners has been busy conducting meeting and organizing events.
Our first main project was our annual pancake feed on September 3rd, which raised about $300. We also have been working together on the landscape around our school.
The front planters have been planted since the spring and a few larger trees have been planted on the south side of the school.
The FFA also participated in Homecoming Week at Freeman by creating a float. Evan Buss and Anna Jurgens have been selected to participate in the National FFA Chorus at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis on October 22nd through 25th.
Upcoming activities for the chapter include a Harvest Bonanza on October 22nd, where KUTT (99.5 FM) and the chapter are teaming up to feed farmers dropping off corn at the ethanol plant near Adams.
The FFA will also be hosting a blood drive with the National Honor Society on November 18th, and annual fruit sales will be coming up at the end of November.
